Electrifying an icon in the Caribbean!
We are proud to contribute to a truly iconic project: the renovation and electrification of the Queen Emma Bridge in Willemstad, Curaçao.
On the 25th of September was the official unveiling and transfer of the dredging statue 'BaggerBeeld' to the municipality of Sliedrecht. The art object consists of 7 steel pipes that are used in the dredging industry.
Various companies sponsored the dredging project, including Van der Leun with the sponsoring and installation of the lighting.
The sculpture was created after the municipality organized a design competition for a work of art that makes Sliedrecht recognizable upon entering the village. One of the prize-winning designs was Maarten de Winter's artwork with his 'BaggerBeeld'. He was inspired by Sliedrecht as the cradle of the global dredging industry.
The statue is at the exit Sliedrecht-West coming from the A15 highway.
