Electrifying an icon in the Caribbean!
We are proud to contribute to a truly iconic project: the renovation and electrification of the Queen Emma Bridge in Willemstad, Curaçao.
This week marks a special milestone as Anly den Breejen officially joins the family business as our Next Gen Trainee.
For Anly, Royal Van der Leun is much more than just a company, it’s a key part of her family’s legacy. Her grandfather acquired full ownership of the company in 1978, her father joined in 1988, and now, in 2024, Anly proudly steps into the next chapter.
“I’ve been visiting the company since I was a child, and now, at 30 years old, I’m honored to continue the family tradition and help shape its future,” Anly shares.
This decision was not made overnight. Over the past five years, Anly carefully reflected on her role in the family business. Through her work with Royal Van der Leun’s international offices and a two-month shadowing period with her father, she gained valuable insights and answers to pivotal questions. "The biggest question for me was: 'Am I truly welcome?' The warmth and support I felt confirmed that this was the right step," Anly explains.
Earlier this year, Anly represented Royal Van der Leun at the FBN NxG International Summit, where she shared her perspective on the unique challenges and opportunities of family businesses. A standout moment? Presenting the week’s key takeaways directly to Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands during the summit’s closing ceremony!
After taking time to recharge and gather inspiration—including a two-month stay in New York, Anly now embarks on this exciting journey. Over the next year, she will immerse herself in projects, strengthen relationships with colleagues and clients, and contribute to shaping the future of Royal Van der Leun.
We are honored and excited to welcome Anly home to the Royal Van der Leun family and look forward to seeing her leave her mark on the legacy of our more than 100-year-old company.
