To celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Netherlands, the Department of Foreign Affairs of Hai Phong, in collaboration with the Netherlands Embassy and the Dutch Business Association Vietnam (DBAV), organised the "Dutch Day in Hai Phong" on December 9.

Ambassador Kees van Baar praised Hai Phong's rapid development, citing its strategic location, deep seaport, international airport and a potential system of inland waterways. "The Dutch companies and knowledge institutes are ready to share experience, ready to cooperate with Hai Phong to meet its ambition to be a sustainable urban port city and an international logistics hub", said the ambassador.

The bond that Royal Van der Leun has with Vietnam is strong. For instance Van der Leun Vietnam celebrates its 10 year anniversary in the spring of 2024. CEO Martin den Breejen and Managing Director Ms. Diep Hoang Hong joined the festivities in Hai Phong. As a gift to the city of Hai Phong, Royal Van der Leun placed twee giant Dutch clogs in the Dutch Garden as a symbol of the great connection between Royal Van der Leun and Vietnam.

One of the highlights was the bike tour around the city center led by Ambassador Kees van Baar to promote e-mobility and sustainability. Other cultural activities included a photo exhibition on the Netherlands' country, people and its maritime industry, games and activities to learn about Dutch customs and practices, a Dutch book display corner and many other ways to enhance and exchange cultural understanding between the two countries.
