Hybrid Combi Freighter 3850

Royal Van der Leun supplied the complete electrical installation for the innovative Damen Combi Freighter 3850. Designed for efficient and sustainable cargo transport, this hybrid vessel features a wind-assisted propulsion system that significantly reduces fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions.

In addition to the electrical installation, the vessel is equipped with Royal Van der Leun's own automation system, providing intelligent control and seamless integration of all onboard electrical and energy systems. The hybrid propulsion system enables efficient switching between the main engine, batteries and the PTO/PTI system, allowing the vessel to operate fully electrically during port manoeuvres.

Engineering, manufacturing and commissioning were carried out by our specialists in China, supported by our hybrid propulsion experts in the Netherlands. The project demonstrates the strength of our international collaboration and global presence.
