Better known as the Swinging Old Lady, the historic floating bridge connects the districts of Punda and Otrobanda and has been an important part of the city for generations.

Commissioned by Curaçao Ports Authority, Holland Shipyards Group is carrying out the revitalisation of the bridge. As part of the project, the existing diesel-powered drive pontoons are being replaced by new, fully electric motor pontoons.

Royal Van der Leun is responsible for the electrical work and shore power infrastructure required for the new electric operation. The project is being carried out in cooperation with Holland Shipyards Group and Ferry Easy.

In this way, modern and sustainable technology is being integrated into one of Curaçao’s most recognisable historic landmarks.
